Pétalo


Today's WOTD is: "pétalo" = petal

In Spanish, the noun "pétalo" is a masculine noun of Greek origin which means petal.

Some commonly used expressions containing the words "pétalo" are:
  • Deshojar (los pétalos de) la margarita (to play the game of “she loves me, she loves me not”);
  • Pétalos de jazmín (jasmine petals);
  • Pétalos de margarita (daisy petals);
  • Pétalos de rosa (rose petals);
  • Pétalos de sal (fleur de sel/ salt flowers flakes/ a metaphor for tears);

Some examples of the use of the word "pétalo" are:
  • Pedro deshoja (los pétalos) de la margarita (Pedro plays a game of “she loves me, she loves me not”);
