Ducha


Today's WOTD is: "ducha" = shower

In Spanish, “ducha” is a feminine noun of French origin, which in turn originates from Italian and means shower.

The Spanish word “ducha” may also be the feminine form of a describing word/ adjective meaning adept/ well versed in/ experienced in something. The masculine form of that adjective is “ducho”.

Related Spanish action words/ verbs are “ducharse” (to take a shower) and “duchar” (to shower - someone else).

Some commonly used expressions with the words “ducha”, “ducharse” or “duchar” are:
  • Darse una ducha (to have/ to take a shower);
  • Como una ducha de agua fría (like a bolt from the blue);
  • Ducha de teléfono (hand-held shower head);
