Clavel


Today's WOTD is: "clavel" = carnation

In Spanish, “clavel” is a masculine noun of Catalan origin, which means carnation.

Some expressions with the word “clavel” are:
  • Clavel encarnado (red carnation);
  • Clavel rojo (red carnation);
  • Clavel rosa (pink carnation);
  • Sin un clavel (with no money left/ broke -colloquially);
  • Rojo clavel (carnation red -colour);
  • Rosa clavel (carnation pink -colour);
  • Un clavel en la solapa (a carnation in the lapel);
  • Un manojo de claveles (a bunch of carnations);
