Asunto

Today's WOTD is: "asunto" = matter
In Spanish, “asunto” is a masculine noun of Latin origin, the main meaning of which is matter, as in:
  • Tenemos varios asuntos pendientes (we have several matters outstanding);


The noun “asunto” also means issue or subject, as in:
  • Nos queda pendiente el asunto de las vacaciones (the issue of the holidays remains outstanding);
  • No olvides de indicar el asunto de cada mensaje (don't forget to indicate the subject of each message);

Some Spanish expressions with the word “asunto” are:
  • Asunto a tratar (agenda item/ issue to address);
    • Tenemos varios asuntos a tratar (we have several issues to address/ deal with);
  • Asunto de referencia (above-mentioned/ reference subject);
  • Asunto de familia (family matter/ affair);
